Porsche Boxster - Ghost Rider - Done!

Mensaje sin leer por PorscheRacer »

Well the much talked about and little seen Porsche Boxster is done. It was brought to the race to run but with late hour part problems could not run as we wanted. We are planning to run the car for tuning and testing in the next few weeks.

I want to thank all the team members of the Khajavi Motorsports crew for the two weeks of late nights, and full days trying to get her ready! She proudly wears the colors of Inalambrica and Control 1, her Sponsors and thanks them for there help and generosity!

We will be the smallest non-turbo engine running in GT1, wish us luck!

Had you asked to races authorities about your participation in GT1 class? Is the car legal to run?, I ask it because of body shell mods ...

best of wishes !!

Hi

Does this Porsche meets all the requirements of the GT regulations in Costa Rica? There are some articles that may be important to read.

Thank you all for the concern. We have been given a waiver to run the car as an open top car for two reasons: One the car was a convertable originally and two the open top is not considered significant enough to cause an advantage.

We are inspecting the car in two weeks for the safety items but don't see any major issues here as the car is currently with both an SCCA and FIA liscences. I am also personally liscenced in Costa Rica now as well.

Well there`s an obvious aerodynamic advantage without the roof. Also this car will produce a less drag than any other GT.

A friend of mine was thinking about the regulation that says that the spoiler can`t exceed the total height of the car (the roof), Does the scoop height counts?

So many questions.. sorry about that.

We will have cleaner lines than the rest, but if you look in another post I made this afternoon it talks about the obvious disadvantage that the smaller engine cars have in GT1.

This is the smallest engined car in the field without a turbo. I don't care how clean the aerodynamic lines are, a 6000cc engined car is going to be faster on the track than a 3600cc engined car. Perhapts the Supra would like to let me borrow thier 6000cc engine and I will help them cut off thier top :)

that spoiler does not seem to meet any aerodymanics plus, as if it would give any considerable downforce it would not be hold up by those thinny spoiler arms.

perhaps it can be the effect of a hurry to shot the car, but attack angle and dimensions of the spoiler look some lost there.

About Spolier height, thats another lack in our regulations as it is considered only the option for a normal roof car, not a convertible one. Imagine Le Mans LMP1s "with spoilers at the height of the body shell" :) :), that would be an absurd thing.

si, tengo claro eso, pero mi gran duda está en que: GT = turismo y éste parece más un prototipo. Practicamente están adaptando el reglamento entonces?

Proto? Regulations? Changes? not a new thing :)

I can confirm to you all that the spoiler was not bolted onto the car but just resting on the car which might explane its angle.

Also the uprights are one pair of several we have that are at different heights since we are actually not sure if it would be better off being closer to the rear diffuser (which was not brought to the track but is similar to LMP car). LMP cars generally run the rear spoiler low to scavange air from the under body tunnels.

Lastly the strength of two 1/4"/9"/20" 6061 Aluminum plates has been used at Le Mans at 300 KPH and shoud work here too :)

Great, that explains it all ,

would never think those plates were that rigid + strong :bom: I get used to see 4 thinny plates not 2 of them, every day there is a new thing to see :)

As far as I recall, it's been some years since the rulebook even mentioned spoilers in GT1. Isn't the Tiida's taller than the roof? Trejos' Porsche is the same I think.

Very nice car, good luck !!

About the spoiler, Promotor measures the height before each event, and it has to be the same as the roof height for EVERY car.

I hope to see your car soon on track !
