Confirmado si es 325Is USA specs.

"I believe the ST class to be the place for my teams efforts in 2009. As such, despite the developing rules book, I have purchased the following car. It is a BMW 325Is USA spec. It will be in Costa Rica next month. We are working with Promotor to develop the car as the new rules are finalized but we expect to be on the starting line by the end of the month of February to start on track development. The car is currently stock except for the obvious removal of the interior and the FIA cage, seat, belts, and window nets. Further modifications will be made as the rules allow."

Ese debe ser el E36 del equipo Khajavi Motorsports, hasta donde tenía entendido tiene un M50B25, el motor que usa el E36 325i, 6 cilindros en linea, doble árbol de levas, 2500cc.

UPDATE!!

Sad News....the car will not run this race.

We had a catastrophic failure in the engine on Friday and we worked late and into this AM the find the depth of the problem. I heard a mechanical ping or two during our break in of the engine. The car started up after priming the fuel system and oil system with only three revolutions on the starter. We ran for 30+ mins with not even the slightest issue and were ready to start loading up for the track when the sound was heard and the engine was shut off.

First I need to say that the car was 100% ready to race on Friday mid morning. The engine sounded strong and the car was ready to do battle. We have put over 200 man hours of work into the car this week and she looks like it! I am proud to say that we feel she is the best looking car in the entire ST class!

We tested the compression and did a leak down test to find that the number six cylinder was losing all its compression out the intake valve(s). So when we pulled the engine and removed the head everything became obvious though strange too. It turns out that the machine shop which assembled the head somehow got the valve spring seat installed in the middle of the spring vs. at the bottom. What this caused was the spring to not be able to be compressed enough to allow the cam to fully open the valve before the spring went into coil-bind. In this situation something has to break and in our case it was the valve stem. Once the valve broke, it fell down and the piston started to pound it back up into the head several times.

The good news is that the piston is not in too bad of a shape and we were able to stop the engine fast enough that we did not do any damage to the cylinder walls either. So really we are pretty lucky. We will need a new valve and valve spring and such, new head gasket kit, head bolts, etc.... We are planning on going shopping Monday and having the engine back together Thursday. Though ambitious we would like to be on the track next weekend for testing.

The next race is 3.5 weeks away so there is no time to waste!

P.S. I want to thank all of my team members for some very very long nights including Javier Pacheco my Concursante and Luis Rodregues my 1st mechanic and Luiggi my fabricator, my family for putting up with all this, the BMW Club for their support, our sponsors and Promotor for helping accommodate our late hour our needs. I promise there will be a BMW race car in Costa Rica soon!!
