BENITO GUERRA JR. REMONTA POSICIONES EN EL RALLY DE FINLANDIA
Benito Guerra Jr. y su navegante español Borja Rozada cumplieron con las expectativas puestas en ellos para el segundo día de carrera del Rally de Finlandia una vez que remontaron del décimo sitio del Campeonato Mundial de Rallies en su categoría de Producción (PWRC), en que concluyeron la jornada anterior, hasta el séptimo en que cruzaron el arco de llegada en esta ocasión. Por lo que respecta a la clasificación general, la del WRC, la dupla de competidores subió del sitio cuarenta y cinco al treinta y cuatro.
El tiempo total acumulado de la dupla mexico-española terminó en 1:38’23.9”, mientras que los ocupantes del sexto casillero, los finlandeses Jarkko Nikara y su navegante Petri Nikaraneo, pararon los cronómetros en 1:37’11.2”, es decir, 1’12.7” por delante de Benito Guerra Jr.. La tripulación conformada por el neozelandés Hayden Paddon y su navegante John Kennard fueron quienes se quedaron con la primera posición del PWRC al finalizar con un registro de 1:35’03.5” y con ello situarse en vigésimo tercer sitiodel WRC.
Se corrieron en total ocho etapas cronometradas durante el día siendo la característica principal de todas ellas las grandes velocidades que se llegaron a desarrollar. De hecho, el rally es tan exigente que la mayoría de los autos participantes corrieron las dos últimas etapas de velocidad con neumáticos totalmente desgastados. En el caso de los representantes de la Escudería Sport City, Seman Baker, Michelin, Interproteccion, Televisa Deportes, éstos se vieron obligados en la penúltima etapa a utilizar los dos repuestos que traen en el auto para cambiar los delanteros pues ya se encontraban totalmente desechos. Sin embargo, al no poder cambiar los traseros también, tuvieron que rodar a una velocidad moderada en la sección que puso fin a las acciones de este día.
Cabe hacer mención que la actuación de Benito Guerra de esta fecha resultó ser tan satisfactoria que por el momento es el mejor clasificado de los corredores sin experiencia en el Rally de Finlandia, es decir, las seis tripulaciones que le anteceden en la tabla de resultados del PWRC tienen en su haber por lo menos cuatro años corriendo la competencia y los seis son originarios de países nórdicos y, por lo tanto, muy acostumbrados a correr en este tipo de terreno y con el clima imperante.
“No cometimos errores hoy y por lo tanto remontamos posiciones tal y como lo esperábamos. Resultó ser una jornada muy dura. El desgaste físico de nosotros y del auto fue muy superior a lo que esperábamos pero, afortunadamente, estábamos preparados para ello. Las llantas nos dieron un susto grande al final pues se acabaron y tuvimos que perder algo de tiempo en cambiar los únicos dos de repuesto que traíamos en el auto. La última sección la pasamos ya no a toda velocidad pues los neumáticos traseros estaban muy desgastados y por lo tanto ya no traíamos la tracción que necesitamos.
“Van dos días difíciles de carrera. Tal vez los más complicados de mi vida pero, a la vez, en los que más he aprendido. Correr en casa de los mejores pilotos del mundo y competir en contra de ellos es una experiencia sumamente productiva.
“Mañana esperamos la jornada más difícil pues serán once las cronometradas que correremos. El recorrido se caracteriza por la gran cantidad de saltos que pasaremos. Si no mal recuerdo tenemos casi sesenta saltos levantados para cerrar el rally. Los autos sufrirán mucho y habrá algunos abandonos. Queremos adelantar dos o tres posiciones más y es por ello que saldremos a competir con todo”, concluyó Benito Guerra Jr..
Para mañana, sábado 30 de julio, tercer y último día de actividades del Rally de Finlandia, los representantes de la Escudería Sport City, Seman Baker, Michelin, Interproteccion, Televisa Deportes y demás equipos participantes tendrán la jornada más dura de toda la carrera pues se correrán once extenuantes etapas de velocidad por demás rápidas y con una gran cantidad de saltos. Será un día de mucho cuidar el auto para la mayoría de los equipos y se pronostica que habrá varios abandonos. La distancia total a cubrir será de 520.550 kilómetros divididos en 140.050 de cronometradas en tierra y 380.500 de tránsito. Las once etapas de velocidad a cubrir son las siguientes: Leustu 1 (21.35 kilómetros), Surkee 1 (14.66 kilómetros), Urria 1 (12.75 kilómetros), Jukojärvi 1 (14.32 kilómetros), Isojärvi 1 (4.85 kilómetros), Leustu 2 (21.35 kilómetros), Surkee 2 (14.66 kilómetros), Urria 2 (12.75 kilómetros), Jukojärvi 2 (14.32 kilómetros), Isojärvi 2 (4.85 kilómetros) y Laajavuori 2 (4.19 kilómetros).

“Van dos días difíciles de carrera. Tal vez los más complicados de mi vida pero, a la vez, en los que más he aprendido. Correr en casa de los mejores pilotos del mundo y competir en contra de ellos es una experiencia sumamente productiva.
“Mañana esperamos la jornada más difícil pues serán once las cronometradas que correremos. El recorrido se caracteriza por la gran cantidad de saltos que pasaremos. Si no mal recuerdo tenemos casi sesenta saltos levantados para cerrar el rally. Los autos sufrirán mucho y habrá algunos abandonos. Queremos adelantar dos o tres posiciones más y es por ello que saldremos a competir con todo”, concluyó Benito Guerra Jr..
Para mañana, sábado 30 de julio, tercer y último día de actividades del Rally de Finlandia, los representantes de la Escudería Sport City, Seman Baker, Michelin, Interproteccion, Televisa Deportes y demás equipos participantes tendrán la jornada más dura de toda la carrera pues se correrán once extenuantes etapas de velocidad por demás rápidas y con una gran cantidad de saltos. Será un día de mucho cuidar el auto para la mayoría de los equipos y se pronostica que habrá varios abandonos. La distancia total a cubrir será de 520.550 kilómetros divididos en 140.050 de cronometradas en tierra y 380.500 de tránsito. Las once etapas de velocidad a cubrir son las siguientes: Leustu 1 (21.35 kilómetros), Surkee 1 (14.66 kilómetros), Urria 1 (12.75 kilómetros), Jukojärvi 1 (14.32 kilómetros), Isojärvi 1 (4.85 kilómetros), Leustu 2 (21.35 kilómetros), Surkee 2 (14.66 kilómetros), Urria 2 (12.75 kilómetros), Jukojärvi 2 (14.32 kilómetros), Isojärvi 2 (4.85 kilómetros) y Laajavuori 2 (4.19 kilómetros).
