Since the beginning of 2006 Aston Martin has been taunting us with morsels of information regarding their new DBS model, and today Aston comes forth with details of the final production car. Immortalized in the James Bond film, “Casino Royale”, the DBS is basically a combination of the DB9 (road car) and the DBR9 (track car) and fuses it into a luxurious, sporty, 2-seater super car.
Capable of catapulting you to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 191mph (302km/h), the 6.0 liter V12 engine delivers 510 bhp and 570 Nm of torque, which is still beneath its potential as demonstrated in the DBR9 and DBRS9 race cars using the same V12 engine and produces in excess of 600 bhp. Other technical features include carbon-fiber body panels (a first for an Aston Martin production car), adaptive damper controlled suspension, optimized air intake system with ‘by-pass’ port, bonded aluminum inner body structure, carbon ceramic brakes, advanced refinish process with epoxy and glass beads and a 700W stereo system to just name a few.
The car will be built at the Aston Martin global HQ at Gaydon, UK and deliveries are expected to start early 2008. Pricing is to be confirmed at the Frankfurt Motor Show this coming September although sources state £130,000 (EUR 192,000). Dare we say that this will be the crowd puller for this years Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and possibly the most anticipated car of the year? Diay si... echate un cuetecillo! Aunque en mi opinión las líneas se vuelven un toque más genéricas y no tienen tanta presencia como otros Aston recientes, los que fueron diseñados por Henrik Fisker.
En lo mecánico qué se puede decir... V12 6 litros 510 rucos... una delicia!
