Wooooooooooooooooooow what a weekend! A new car, co-pilot and first time rallying in Costa Rica. We had a fanastic time. The car was awesome even though a little underpowered up hill but on the level and down hill the car was fine. I really like the handling and had a blast driving the Swift sideways. For us it was a test for the crew, the car and what pace we could set. Looking at the times we were on the pace for such a small engine car. The weak part was the overheating and suspension A arms. Actually the Subaru STI road front struts took all the rough stuff without any issues. The only problem was the ball joint broke on stage 8 causing retirement. We had no service or spares but managed to patch the suspension up to get home. I'm going to do a full report in Spanish soon. Sorry about the English
Pura Vida dudes!!!

Hey Chris!
You did an awesome job this weekend, you looked very confident on the stages, despite the fact this was your first time in that car!
Im sure you'll race even better next time, let's pray for your boss to give you the chance to run the next rally haha!
Congrats! And hope to see you next rally!

Re: We'll be back!!!
Thank you all for the kind words. I was surprised how well the car handled considering I built my own front suspension front Subaru STI road front struts and threw on some springs that came with the car. Those struts cost me $220 for the pair. I bought them off Ebay used and welded the Swift spring seats to them. The part that broke on stage 8 was some after market ball joint!! This Saturday I will be back in the States and plan to bulid a better ball joint set up.
I hope to have some more photos of our rallu as there were many times I was driving blind as the co-pilot got used to the pace I needed. So at times I had a few "off" moments!!!jajajaja My new co-pilot did really well for her first event and for sure we will team up again.
Other point to note is we don't have service....that's me! I brought all the spares(no many) in the car. Then asked someone to carry them to service. Then Monday I was driving to work in the car! Although the suspension is a little bent it still got me home.
Lessons learnt: get a better radiator as we ran with the fan/heater on all the satages. Carry more water and sleep the night before!!
I got good feedback from my company in the USA and CR so I hope I can make to the August rally.
I really enjoyed meeting everyone. The spectators are awesome and I was happy they enjoyed my style of driving...jajajaja
Thanks for the photo! this is the best I've seen. I have it on my desktop.
Thanks again I'm still on a high!!
